Thoughts of being popular, what clothes to wear and who was "it" in pop culture could have been my major focuses in middle school life. Instead, I had many creative ideas on how to keep the student body active, for I was the student council vice president.
Just like the waves pounding the shore line of the east coast beaches, ideas of how to keep the student body active pounded my head before each officers' meeting. Thinking back upon this year of leadership, I realized that my position of being avice president was a job of sorts. I showed up on time, gave it my all, and most of all found the true meaning of success. I was sad when I had to pass my position on for the next person, but I will never forget the experience.
Now, a high school graduate about to undergo my first day of college, I hope to be involved in my school as I was back then. But more importantly, I want to make a decision for my life in the long run: choosing a major and ultimately a career. I believe that when I do this, I will provide myself with direction and focus by narrowing down my diverse interests.
Being a person of many talents (music, art, science, and math) has provided me with unlimited choices and therefore, a very weighted decision. I hope through my experience in college that I will be able to find my true calling in life, one that combines all of my interests; therefore keeping me extremely happy with my decision.
In my mind's eye choosing a career will provide me an environment to be happy doing what I love. I know that a decision as important as a career can't be for themoney . It has to be of true love and passion to make a difference. With a decision as big as my career path, I will need to choose one that I know will keep me positive and also allow me to influence others.
The aspect of success in a career has to do with the amount of time one puts in to it as well as passion. I believe that if I make the correct decision on a career, I will be able to be successful for my own benefit as well as my community's. Just like instudent council , the success of the leaders was contagious to the student body, spreading over the entire school. As for now, I am an ordinary freshman looking forward to an exciting year of new classes, people and hoping to decide upon the best major and career for myself in the upcoming years.
